الحرف العمرانية في العصر الملكي في العراق

Some Arabs believe that manual labor is not befitting a noble, free Arab. It is not right for an Arab to be a worker or craftsman in a manual trade for someone else. In Arab society, a craftsman is considered a despised and looked down upon person, despite the community's need for him. Society's view of those who practice these trades has left its social mark on them and their families. Most of those who practice simple trades had low wages and lived a simple life with limited resources. It can be said that they lived a life of subsistence, despite the community's need for their services. Their daily wages were sufficient to meet their daily needs.
