The Ultimate Methodology of the Books of Sultanic Rulings

The importance of this research lies in shedding greater light on the purpose behind the methodology of the books of Sultanic Rulings during this period, particularly the 5th/11th century AD and the 8th/14th century AD. This focus is centered around the purpose behind the methodology of Al-Ahkam Al-Sultaniyyah by Al-Mawardi (d. 450 AH/1058 AD), Al-Ahkam Al-Sultaniyyah by Al-Hanbali (d. 458 AH/1065 AD), and Al-Fakhri fi Al-Adab Al-Sultaniyyah wa Al-Dawul Al-Islamiyyah by Ibn Al-Taqtaqi (d. 709 AH/1309 AD). The objectives of this research are to understand the concept of purpose and what is meant by Sultanic Rulings. Furthermore, it is important to examine and reflect on the approaches indicated by the books of Sultanic Rulings, particularly the religious, worldly, and scientific purposes. This is based on our reading of the texts within the pages, as well as historical examples that demonstrate the purpose underlying the methodology of Sultanic Rulings.
