Repetition means the presence of an element or scene in an artwork that is similar or identical and can be dispensed with without affecting the idea or content of the artwork as a whole. It does not mean the presence of more than several elements of the same type depicted in different positions and poses and performing different actions, or the presence of two or more scenes representing the same subject but with different elements, positions and movements. Repetition is also defined as the use of identical elements or symbols to achieve a certain effect, or it can also be used to draw attention to the element being repeated. Repetition can be used in many ways to create an impact in art, the most common being structuring an artwork around a certain number or pattern of similar elements..
