Abstract

The civilization of Mesopotamia has produced for us many important aspects of civilization, which were the products of human work throughout the ages.

And by reading the cuneiform texts whose subjects included a variety of fields from the civilization of Mesopotamia, starting from the religious texts that gave us important information about the Mesopotamian religion and the most important deities that were worshiped in this civilization and the most important temples that were built and the most important religious practices and rituals practiced by the inhabitants of Mesopotamia to please their gods and request For safety, security and prosperity, down to the given economic texts that gave us the reality of daily economic life practiced in this country.

Through the cultural diversity that characterized the civilization of Mesopotamia, its authenticity and its impact on other civilizations, the researcher decided to initiate the subject of music, its impact and its role in the Mesopotamian civilization, specifically a part of it, which is the musical drum . Music, and they had many motives for these practices, but the most important of these motives was the religious motive, according to what was reported to us by the various cuneiform texts, which contained music and multiple musical instruments and the valuable information associated with them that introduced us to this important civilized feild and its repercussions on society in the civilization of Mesopotamia, as well as It has enhanced our general understanding of music and musical instruments and the cultural heritage associated with them that was and is still in use until the present time.

The importance of studying music and musical instruments comes through its close connection with the conscience and feelings of man, and its connection also with the religious aspect that was and is still influential and directing human life
