Hajj is the fifth pillar of Islamic religion and all Muslims who are capable financially and physically are obliged to perform at least once in their life. However, performing hajj in the past proved to be difficult and risky, which made it necessary to for pilgrims to have their trips organized in the form of parades led by who used to be called “Emir al-Hajj”.
This paper will focus on Emirate of al-Hajj and its responsibilities. It also spots light on who were the Emirs of those parades during the era of Muawiya ibn abi Sufyan.
