مدينة أوغاريت الكنعانية

Archaeological excavations conducted in the city of Ugarit, starting in 1929 AD and onwards, revealed the discovery of five archaeological layers that show that this place was inhabited since the Stone Ages and continuously until its fall in 1200 BC at the hands of the Sea Peoples. The city was then abandoned and forgotten for more than 32 centuries. Investigations and excavations revealed the existence of a civilization in the city throughout the ages, represented by mutual relations and clear influence between the region and the island of Cyprus first, Mesopotamia second, and the Nile third. The city also fell under the control of the Hurrians at times, the Egyptians at other times, and then the Hittites at other times.
The city historically known as Canaanite Ugarit was shown by the second and first archaeological layers, whose time period extended between the 15th and 13th centuries BC, during which the city became a typical example of Canaanite society and one of the richest capitals in the ancient Near East
