تعد الرسائل من اهم المصادر المسمارية لدراسة المجتمعات القديمة، نظرا لما تحمله من معلومات تفصيلية لمواضيع من الصعب الحصول عليه من المصادر المسمارية الاخرى كالقوانين والعقود والقروض والكتابات التاريخية والدينية وذلك لما تتضمنه تلك الرسائل من معلومات وأفكار وحقائق مهمة والتي تعكس النشاطات اليومية لمجتمع ذلك العصر. وقد تناولت دراستنا لهذه الرسالة جزئية بسيطة عن نمط وطريقة كتابة العنوان والتحية, التي عادة ما تكون مهذبة, واللذان يردان في رسائل ذلك العصر. من جانب اخر بما ان الرسالة موضوع البحث تصنف ضمن الرسائل التجارية أو معاملات البيع والشراء؛ فإنها اوضحت لنا جانب مهم عن تلك التعاملات والمواد المستخدمة فيها والتي كانت التمر مقابل الفضة.
